What Neurodivergent-Affirming ADHD Therapy Looks Like
Working With Your Brain, Not Against It
The more you understand the complexities of your brain the better you can respond to challenges and advocate for additional supports. ADHD impacts executive functioning, perception of time (time-blindness), and the best way to work with your brain is by building a practical toolkit of strategies tailored to address your concerns.
Pivoting When Your Brain Won't Stop Spinning
ADHD brains tend to be either over- or under-responsive to stress, this creates lots of opportunities for overwhelm/burnout. By better understanding your ADHD nervous system, we can tailor tools to meet your needs. Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) uniquely impacts people with ADHD (though research indicates that this may also be the case for Autism), it is the feelings and thoughts associated with perceived rejection from others. For some people, the stress comes when we least expect it, like at 2am while the thoughts spirals and sleep remains elusive.
Developing Accommodations & Self-Advocacy
Because environments are disabling, we often need to challenge and change them to better support our needs. Luckily, due to the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), you have a right to be “reasonably accommodated” at work and school, regardless of how recently you were diagnosed. I help clients navigate this process to feel better and often to be more effective in those environments!

About Matt Jackson, LPA (Licensed Psychological Associate)
Matt Jackson, LPA
“Hi, I am the aforementioned ADHDer. I was diagnosed as an adult, four years ago, and like a lot of people who find their way here, I spent years before that wondering why things that seemed relatively effortless for everyone else felt hard for me.
I know what it's like to sit across from a therapist who means well but doesn't really get it. Who gives you strategies that work great for a neurotypical brain and leave you feeling like the problem is you.
That's not the therapy I offer. I'm a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) with the authority to practice independently in Texas, and for about four years I have worked specifically with adults and teens who are ADHD, autistic, or those still figuring out what's going on with their brain. My goal is to help you build a life that actually works for how you think.”
No diagnosis required to start. But if you want that confirmation, I can help with that too.
