What makes my ApProach unique?
In brief
Research-based
ADHD isn’t what it used to be. In fact, not very long ago ADHD was limited to symptoms stereotypical of hyperactive/impulsive school-aged boys. Nowadays, the ADHD umbrella is far wider and consequently more women, people of color, and others with less pronounced symptoms are being diagnosed and treated for the first time. ADHD is one of my hyperfocuses and I utilize my curiosity to stay on top of the developments in the field.
Collaborative
ADHD is not unlike Autism regarding the variety of presentations a person may display (and one day it may be understood as a type of spectrum condition!). Consequently, not every tool/technique/solution will work for you! In my mind, this is part of what makes therapy exciting, there is practically no limit to what we can utilize, as long as it works for you!
I believe therapy should reflect that individuality by focusing first on the challenges you identify—then working together to find solutions tailored specifically to you.
addresses Systemic barriers
Here, all parts of you are welcome. Because when we leave central pieces of our identity outside the therapy space, we limit our ability to truly grow.
I believe disability isn’t something contained within a person, but something created by an unaccommodating environment. A person isn’t “disabled (unless of course, that is a preferred identifier for you),” the environment is “disabling.”
Everyone deserves the chance to show what they’re capable of and identify what supports they need.
Why ADHD Therapy?
Effective therapy for people with ADHD isn’t about trying to maximize productivity, eradicating “laziness,” or mastering consistency.
ADHD, as a neurodevelopmental condition, affects how you process information, interact with others, and approach daily tasks (and so much more!). While the world often isn’t designed for neurodivergent individuals, therapy can provide relief by helping you:
Embrace your ADHD identity and develop a stronger sense of self
Understand emotional dysregulation to learn how to manage when your emotions feel too big (or too small!)
Build systems and identify tools for more effective habit formation
Learn about RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) and learn to spot (and curb) feelings of rejection when receiving criticism (whether intended or not)
Create a personalized routine that aligns with your strengths and needs
Increase confidence in your ability to navigate the world in your own way

What Happens During ADHD therapy?
Autonomy Building
Learn to work with your brain, not against it. The more you understand the complexities of your brain the better you can respond to challenges and advocate for additional supports.
Stress Management
ADHD brains tend to be either over- or under-responsive to stress, this creates lots of opportunities for overwhelm/burnout. By better understanding your ADHD nervous system, we can tailor tools to meet your needs.
School/Workplace Accommodations
Because environments are disabling, we often need to challenge and change them to better support our needs. Luckily, due to the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), you have a right to be “reasonably accommodated” at work and school. I help clients navigate this process to feel better and often to be more effective in those environments!
