Autism Therapy for Adults in Texas
Neurodivergent-affirming autism therapy for adults and adolescents—from a therapist with ADHD who understands what it's like to navigate a world not built for your brain
Not sure if you're autistic? You don't need a formal diagnosis to start therapy. If you want that clarity, assessment is available too.
What Neurodivergent-Affirming Autism Therapy Looks Like
Unmasking on Your Own Terms
A lot of autistic adults have spent years learning to perform neurotypicality so well that they've lost track of what's actually them. Unmasking is often a slow, ongoing process of figuring out what you actually want, how you actually prefer to communicate, and who you are when you're not performing for everyone else. That's work we can do together, at your pace.
When the World Is Too Much (or Not Enough?)
Autistic brains tend to be over- or under-responsive to sensory input — and that gap between your nervous system and the world around you creates a lot of room for burnout, overwhelm, and exhaustion that's hard to explain to people who don't experience it. We build a clearer picture of your sensory profile and develop tools that actually fit. Many autistic folks already feel hyper-aware, to me it’s more about utilizing that awareness to shift the blame off of yourself as we work toward managing the inputs and outputs at a sustainable level.
Developing Accommodations & Self-Advocacy
Because environments are disabling, we often need to challenge and change them to better support our needs. Luckily, due to the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), you have a right to be “reasonably accommodated” at work and school, regardless of how recently you were diagnosed. Figuring out what to ask for, how to ask for it, and how to advocate for yourself without burning bridges (or being burnt) is something we can work on together.

Meet Your Therapist
Matt Jackson, LPA
“I'm a Licensed Psychological Associate in Texas, and I have ADHD. I built this practice for neurodivergent adults and adolescents — and for the people who love and want to support them — because I wanted to offer something that's harder to find than it should be: a therapist who already understands what you're navigating before you walk in.
A lot of autistic folks have seen providers who focused on making them appear more neurotypical — who treated masking as a goal rather than a cost. That's not the approach here. My work is affirming, not corrective. I'm not going to help you mask better. I'm going to help you figure out what actually works for you — and build from there.
I don't use ABA-based approaches. If you've had experiences with ABA or behavior-focused interventions that didn't sit right, I want you to know that is not what we do here.
Late diagnosis is something I work with a lot. If you're in your 20s, 30s, 40s, or beyond and just starting to put the pieces together — that's not unusual, and it doesn't make your experience less valid. I also work with adolescents and young adults who are in the middle of figuring things out. You're welcome here regardless of where you are in that process.
I'm licensed in Texas and see adults and adolescents virtually across the state. I also provide formal assessments for those who want clarity on diagnosis.”
