Personalized Autism Therapy to Address Your Unique Challenges
The Challenge with Autism Therapy: Finding a therapist who understands your lived experience
So, you’ve discovered that you’re autistic? Whether you’ve known for years or are just beginning to explore this aspect of yourself, you’re in the right place. Living with autism can feel overwhelming at times, but that’s likely why you’re here. From navigating workplace challenges and sensory overload to fostering meaningful relationships, therapy can offer the understanding, strategies, and support you need to thrive.
As a neurodivergent therapist specializing in autism (and ADHD!), I provide compassionate, tailored therapy designed to help you embrace your autistic identity, develop practical skills, and build confidence in living life on your terms. Let’s work together to create a path forward that reflects your strengths and values.
Get the Right Support for Your Autistic Brain
Effective therapy for people with autism isn’t about trying to make you "fit in" or "mask" who you are. Autism, as a neurodevelopmental condition, affects how you process information, interact with others, and approach daily tasks (and so much more!). While the world often isn’t designed for neurodivergent individuals, therapy can provide relief by helping you:
Embrace your autistic identity and develop a stronger sense of self
Understand sensory sensitivities/preferences and create strategies to manage overwhelm
Build social and communication skills for more meaningful connections
Develop self-regulation tools to navigate emotional challenges
Create a personalized routine that aligns with your strengths and needs
Increase confidence in your ability to navigate the world in your own way
By tailoring therapy to your specific needs, we can work together to help you thrive. You don't have to change who you are—you just need the right support to live authentically.
Common Features of my Therapy approach for Autism
Understanding Autism in Depth (Psychoeducation):
• Connecting your personal experiences to the autism spectrum, so you can better understand your strengths and areas for growth
• Exploring how autism impacts your nervous system, influencing stress responses, sensory needs, and communication
• Discussing and exploring your sensory processing, executive functioning, and social communication
Autonomy Building:
Helping you challenge the belief that being autistic means something’s “wrong” with you, and replacing it with the understanding that your brain is just wired differently than neurotypicals/allistic people—and, in many environments, this is an advantage
• Supporting you in challenging societal expectations and embracing your unique qualities
• Creating space for you to direct your therapy journey, so it aligns with your needs and goals
Social Skills and Self-Regulation:
Teaching emotional and attentional regulation strategies to manage overwhelm and anxiety
Exploring communication techniques to help you navigate social interactions with greater ease
Building confidence in your ability to advocate for yourself in personal and professional spaces
If any of this resonates with you, starting therapy with me can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and develop strategies to feel more comfortable in your skin. If there’s something specific you’d like to address that I haven’t mentioned, feel free to reach out—we’ll address it together.
Why Choose Me as Your Autism Therapist?
Why Choose Me as Your Autism Therapist?
Traditional autism therapy can sometimes feel like a one-size-fits-all approach that doesn't honor the complexity of your unique experience. While challenges are a part of life, I work to minimize unnecessary roadblocks by providing:
Expertise & Experience:
With two years experience of providing autism therapy, along with a personal ADHD with a hyper-fixation on learning about best practices for treating autism (and ADHD!), I offer an empathetic and informed approach. I understand more than most what it’s like to navigate life as an autistic individual, and I bring that perspective to every session. Though I will be the first to admit that this perspective is informed by tangential experience with ADHD and based on the experiences of clients with autism and of the autistic experiences of numerous others detailed in books, podcasts, and elsewhere. I take this responsibility seriously.
As the saying goes,, “If you’ve met one person with autism…you’ve met one person with autism.” I believe you are the expert in the room regarding your lived experience, and I aim to bring clinical insights to find what works for you. This dynamic depends on you to guide me in how I can best support you on your journey.
A Safe, Nonjudgmental Space:
You deserve a space where you can feel safe and accepted. I create a therapeutic environment that fosters openness and understanding—one where we can explore challenges without judgment.
A Collaborative Partnership:
Therapy is not just about receiving advice—it’s about working together to find strategies and tools that will truly fit into your life. We’ll partner in a way that empowers you to thrive, not just survive.
My Approach
Eclectic and Tailored Approach: Drawing from various therapeutic modalities (CBT, DBT, person-centered, mindfulness, etc.) to find what works best for you.
Inclusivity Prioritized: Many people with autism are LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, AAPI, disabled, or belong to other minority groups. I’m knowledgeable about sexism, racism, ableism, power imbalances, inequalities, and inequities, and I’m always eager to learn more! Therapy is most effective when you show up as your authentic self.
Research-Based Expertise: My approach is informed by the latest research in autism and years of experience supporting neurodivergent individuals in building meaningful lives.

Dr. Megan Anna Neff has some of my favorite resources and insights about Autism (and ADHD!). Whether you check out her blogs, Venn diagrams, or listen to her and Patrick Casale’s Divergent Conversations podcast, this website is chock-full of extremely helpful content!
-
This insightful book (A must read, in my opinion!) clarifies how autism can present, especially in individuals who camouflage their traits. It includes the latest research, quotes from over 100 autistic contributors, and addresses key topics like empathy, sensory systems, neuro-crash burnout, and autistic strengths. A valuable resource for understanding the full spectrum of autism beyond the diagnostic criteria.
